Operational • Develops and reviews nursing organizational chart and participate in decision making processes including planning and budgeting. • Participates and represents Nursing in hospital committees as needed.  Quality improvement  Infection control  Pharmacy and therapeutics • Oversees and assure that committee’s recommendations are implemented at the Nursing level. • Ensures that nursing policies and procedures and standards are accessible to all nursing staff at all times and all nursing staff are familiar and aware of the nursing policies and procedures. • Participates in the development of practices that promote patient and staff safety. • Works to develop essential policies and procedures as required by CBAHI and JCIA. • Ensures the implementation of a policy and procedure that defines patient care delivery methods. • Ensure that nursing reference manuals are readily available and accessible to all nursing units. • Ensures that policies and content of manuals are implemented as evidenced by the daily practice and patient’s medical record • Ensures the competency of the nursing staff. • Participate in the recruitment and hiring process of qualified staff. • Monitor the performance of the nursing staff and assure their ongoing competency. • Supervises competency and performance assessment. • Conducts visit/ round to the nursing unit. • Obtains feedback of patient/ family and other department staff. • Ensures sufficient nurses are available to meet the needs of patients. • Develop a staffing plan that maintain as adequate staffing level in all nursing units. • Explores and identifies staff abilities and potentials to ensure proper staff allocation/ assignments. • Ensures the appropriateness of work schedules to maintain adequate number of staff on every shift. • Ensures that nurses assigned out of their normal working area have the required competency for safe and effective patient care. • Maintains a list of cross-trained nurses and makes it available for all nursing units. • Ensures the implementation and compliance to JCIA and CBAHI requirements/ standards. • Achieves nursing related performance indicators/ KPI and objectives. • Monitors and ensuring achieving departmental quality indicators. • Ensures staff awareness of JCIA/ CBAHI standards. • Monitors all performance auditing process. • Supervises and oversees orientation and training activities. • Ensures staff satisfaction and retention. • Interacts and meets nursing staff at all position level. • Be available to all staff as they need and plays positive mentor. • Identifies and anticipates staff problems/ challenges and acts accordingly • Maintains acceptable rate of staff retention and turn over as per international figure. • Establishes and implements clear staff development program. • Plays a role of staff

Key Skills
